   Hi Jay,

   It’s Paul Hughes here; we met earlier today (23rd at The Institute) and I just wanted to e mail you to say thanks again for letting me watch your music biz class on session musicians today. I hope the students you had realise how important the material you were talking to them about really is.

   I mentioned to you today about the type of pedagogy I am developing in the music department at my high school in Croydon. This involves filming myself playing the particular tunes that I set for the pupils to learn and then editing the videos so to post them on the school’s own you tube channel. Pupils are then set the task of independently studying the material, making their own notes, and they use their dedicated class time, which is only once a week for 50 minutes, to practise the material presented online.

   The school channel is http://www.youtube.com/EdenhamTV and on there you’ll find a whole host of stuff that I have posted for our pupils. The material that has been chosen I think suits the age range of our pupils and certainly their eclectic taste in music and their instrumental ability.
