Koala Chlamydia and One Direction

Best ever cover story by band returning home from tour: A few One Direction band members are concerned about their health after they were urinated on by koalas while visiting an animal sanctuary in Australia. A likely story, but an impressive amount of organisation by the tour manager. Most bands just get an elephant shot …

Memo to Recording Engineers

Recently, I found myself in a situation I’ve never before experienced in 37 years of recording: I didn’t want to be in the studio. I was producing and we had a tight schedule. A combination of attitude and technical problems resulted in the session from hell (although we got it done!) I can’t go into …

Kate Middleton: how long will it take the media to kill this one?

The madness starts now: “Kate: the 32-page colour booklet, free with tomorrow’s Daily Mirror. What she wears, what she really thinks about Pippa…” How long will it take the tabloid press to hound this poor woman to her grave? F%$*&£g idiots; when will they ever learn? Rule 2: The Artist’s husband/wife or current life and bodily-fluids partner is always right, even when they are clearly wrong, stark-staring …

Where’s the Value?

Walking through Brick Lane market in the sun, I passed stalls selling DVDs for £1, CDs for £1. They were chart CDs and blockbuster movies, not cheapo productions. The previous night, I played guitar for an artist at one of the many “showcase nights” that exist, at which the soundman gets paid, the venue gets …

What Am I?

I play pop music but I am not a pop musician. I play rock music but I am not a rock musician. I play acoustic music but I am not an acoustic musician. I play country music but I am not a country musician. I am a musician. Share this:

Whitney Houston: another star lost to the madness of celebrity

Much grief about Whitney’s sad demise on FB, twitter, etc., and a few voices raised to ask the question “why?” Why does someone who has everything and has achieved their life’s ambition “throw it all away?” There are several reasons why this keeps happening: the first is beyond anyone’s control, while the second could be …

Some things are always true

If the drums are right, everything else is easy: if the drums are wrong, nothing else is possible. Share this:
